IMAX is becoming quite popular, particularly in India. Previously, only hollywood films were screened in IMAX, but now indian films are joining the celebration. In 2023, 44 films will be released in IMAX theatres across India, grossing $21.30 million (about Rs. 176.51 crores) from just 27 screens. christopher Nolan's "Oppenheimer" topped the IMAX game, grossing $6.135 million (about Rs. 50.84 crores). "Avatar: The Way Of Water" finished second, collecting $1.821 million (about Rs. 15.09 crores).
Shah Rukh Khan's "Jawan" led the way among indian films with $1.665 million (about Rs. 13.80 crores), while SRK got fourth place with Pathaan, which earned $1.549 million. Even with a brief run, tom Cruise's "Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning - Part One" grossed $1.236 million (about Rs. 10.24 crores) in IMAX. "Animal," starring Ranbir Kapoor, grossed $1 million.
Because of its magnitude, Dhanush's pongal release Captain Miller is receiving higher praise in the IMAX version in 2024. The next big picture to hit IMAX theatres is Fighter, starring hrithik roshan and deepika Padukone. Prabhas' kalki 2898 AD, which opens on May 9th, is slated to be another major IMAX release in India.

Salaar was also an IMAX release, although it didn't make much of an impression on those screens. But kalki is a very different beast, created on an international scale and standard. If the picture is well-made, it deserves to be seen in IMAX, and if everything goes as planned, it may be the biggest hit in India's IMAX this year.
