Nayanthara was last featured in Annapoorani: The Goddess of Food, a culinary drama film starring herself and directed by Nilesh krishna in his debut. The film was recently embroiled in controversy when charges were made that it harmed the religious emotions of the Hindu community and purportedly promoted 'Love Jihad' in its film.
She said, "In our honest endeavor to communicate a pleasant message, we may have accidentally caused harm. We were surprised to see a censored film, which had previously been shown in cinemas, removed from the OTT platform. My staff and I never intended to harm anyone's feelings, and we appreciate the seriousness of the situation."
She said, "As someone who wholeheartedly believes in god and routinely attends temples around the country, it is the last thing I would willfully do. I sincerely apologize to everyone whose sentiments we have affected. The purpose of 'Annapoorni' was to elevate and inspire, not to create grief.
