Missing Indian student found dead on US's Purdue University campus
In an email sent to the university's computer science department on Monday, interim CS director Chris Clifton informed students and staff of Acharya's death, The Exponent said.
"It is with great sadness that I inform you that one of our students, Neel acharya, has passed away," Clifton told The Exponent.
"My condolences go out to his friends, family, and all affected," the statement said.
Later, speaking with The Exponent, Clifton stated that he received an email from the office of the Dean of students confirming Acharya's death.
"A deceased person was found that matched Neel's description and had Neel's ID on (him)," added the officer.
Earlier on Monday, in a post on X, Acharya's mother, Gauri acharya, asked for aid in finding her son, who had been missing since january 28 at 12:30 (local time).
"He was last seen by an uber driver who dropped him off at Purdue University." We are seeking for any information on him. "Please assist us if you know anything," she said.
