Telangana Hyderabad - KTR blames free travel scheme for auto drivers’ suicides
K T Rama Rao, working president of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), said that 15 auto drivers committed suicide within two months of the congress party taking power in telangana as a result of the 'unthinking' implementation of free travel for ladies plans on TSRTC buses.
"Will the government not respond if a tribal car driver burns down his vehicle in front of Praja Bhavan? ktr proposed that the congress administration grant ex gratia of Rs 10 lakhs to auto drivers who committed suicide, as well as a Rs 10000 stipend to each auto driver's family who lost their livelihood.
KTR stated that the state government's actions implemented "without due diligence" to favor one category of individuals are "negatively affecting another category."
"The marginalized sectors of the state have lived contentedly under BRS control for the past ten years. However, after just 55 days of your reign, many elements of society have been thrown into disarray. auto drivers from lower socioeconomic backgrounds are in a bad condition right now. Many people commit suicide owing to a lack of revenue from their jobs, he added.
The former minister also stated that the BRS has formed a special committee under the party's labor wing to investigate the difficulties faced by the auto driver community.
"We transmitted the report produced by the committee to the state government but received no reaction. "We request that the state government address the concerns of the state's over 6.50 lakh auto drivers," he added.
The telangana government has introduced the "Maha lakshmi Free Bus" plan, which provides free transportation for women and transgender people on state-run non-AC buses.
The plan applies to TSRTC's City Ordinary, Express, Metro Express, and Palle Velugu buses.
Women who are telangana residents and have appropriate identity cards indicating their dwelling address are eligible to use the programme. The plan is intended to help girls, women of all ages, and transgender people who live in Telangana.
