Telangana Hyderabad - State Preparing for Rs 500 LPG cylinders, Free electricity scheme

Ahead of the forthcoming lok sabha elections, Telangana's congress administration has asked authorities to make thorough plans for executing programs that provide Rs 500 LPG gas cylinders and up to 200 units of free power. According to a story published in The Hindu, in addition to two of the six promises made in the state's recently ended assembly elections, telangana chief minister A revanth reddy has asked authorities to develop a strategy for implementing a housing project.

The Finance Department has been asked to provide provisions in the budget for the execution of two guarantees. Previously, the telangana government provided free bus travel to women and increased the medical coverage under the arogyasri health insurance plan from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 10 lakh. The administration intends to adopt two additional assurances soon.

Applications for Rs 500 LPG cylinders, free electricity schemes in Telangana

In the recently finished Praja Palana program, which ran from december 28 to january 6, 91.49 lakh women registered for subsidized LPG cylinders priced at Rs 500. Furthermore, during the program, 92.23 lakh women requested cash assistance. Subsidized gas and financial aid got the most applications compared to other assurances. However, telangana has received applications for 200 units of free electricity.

What is the Mahalakshmi scheme in Telangana?

The Mahalakshmi initiative in telangana, proposed by the congress, intends to provide Rs 2500 per month to women, Rs 500 for LPG cylinders, and free bus travel for women on the TSRTC network.

While the congress administration has implemented free bus travel for women in the TSRTC, the fulfillment of the commitment to offer financial help and LPG cylinders for Rs 500 in the state remains delayed.

It is unclear if the telangana administration would implement initiatives to deliver 200 units of free power, Rs 500 LPG cylinders, and other perks before announcing the Model Code of Conduct (MCC).
