Relying Too Much on Rajinikanth ?

SIBY JEYYA
After dazzling everyone in "Jailer," Rajinikanth will next star in aishwarya Rajinikanth's sports drama "Lal Salaam." A trailer for the film was published at the last minute to increase the buzz. According to the teaser, the film follows vishnu Vishal, a Muslim protagonist with a terrible background who seeks penance following a priest's prophesy. Rajinikanth plays Moideen Bhai, a character who promotes communal unity and is an important part of the film's appeal.

Despite the star power and Rajinikanth's prolonged appearance, the film has not received much attention, owing to its odd genre—a sports drama addressing religious concerns rather than a typical commercial picture. The trailer, while competent, lacks broad appeal and resembles sanctimonious flicks from the 1990s. Concerns are raised regarding Rajinikanth's role being featured yet having limited screen time or effect, thus disappointing the audience.

"Lal Salaam" movie marks Aishwarya's comeback to feature film director after an eight-year absence. Historically, her films have resonated with a specialized audience rather than the general public, which explains her first two films' dismal box office performances. Lal Salaam, backed by Lyca Productions, is set to be released this week on february 9.
