China has raised objection to an Indian media channel interviewing a Taiwanese official
It is noteworthy that taiwan and india do not have formal diplomatic connections, with india adhering to the "One china policy."
The Chinese embassy released a statement that said: "On february 29, 2024, a show on select indian TV aired an interview with Joseph Wu, the chief of Taiwan's foreign affairs office. This gave Wu a forum to promote 'Taiwan independence' and spread misinformation. It is completely inappropriate and constituted a major breach of the one-China principle."
In response, Taiwan's foreign ministry said, "Neither india nor taiwan is part of the PRC [People's Republic of China] and we're not its puppets. We're both democracies with free and vibrant presses that can't be dictated to."
