As the deadline to apply for the Union Public service Commission's (UPSC) Civil service test approached on Tuesday, aspirants complained about internet outages. The UPSC stated that the deadline for completing the online application is march 5 before 6 p.m. The UPSC had earlier issued a notification for 1,056 vacancies. On the microblogging platform "X," several candidates expressed their rage and asked the UPSC to extend the deadline.
An aspirant with the user name @JovitaRegi said “UPSC Site down since afternoon. Please extend the deadline by a day or two.” While another user said “If it continues like this then lakhs of youth will be deprived of filling the form. The problem should be fixed as soon as possible and the date should be extended.”
Each year UPSC receives more than 10 lakh applications for the civil service exam and a considerable amount of that number comes on the last day.
The UPSC will fill around 1,056 vacancies through the Civil services Examination 2024, of which 40 are for Persons with Benchmark Disability (PwBD); 6 for candidates with blindness and low vision; 12 for deaf and hard of hearing; 9 for locomotor disability including cerebral palsy, leprosy cured, dwarfism, acid attack victims and muscular dystrophy; and 13 for multiple disabilities.
The CSE 2024 examination will have two stages. The first one is the preliminary examination of objective-type questions. The Prelims exam is to shortlist candidates for the Mains round, which has two parts: the written examination of descriptive-type questions and interviews (personality tests).
