Fifteen years after one of his most well-known films altered the Academy Awards forever, christopher nolan has finally won his first Oscar. At the 96th Academy Awards, Oppenheimer won Best director for Nolan. Notably, The Dark Knight did not receive a nomination for Best Picture at the 2009 Academy Awards. A maximum of ten nominees have been added to the Best Picture category in reaction to the issue. Oppenheimer won Best Picture at the 2024 Oscars, making a complete cycle.
