Filmmaker
sandeep Reddy Vanga's response to criticism of his
movie Animal amuses renowned
writer Javed Akhtar. Sarcastically, Javed says that
sandeep couldn't find anything wrong with his 53-year-long career, so he resorted to bringing up his son Farhan Akhtar's achievements. In response to Javed's criticism of Animal's portrayal of women,
sandeep brought out Farhan's production credits for series like Mirzapur, which are infamous for their coarse
language and obscene acts of violence.
In an interview, Javed laughed and pointed out that
sandeep had to bring up his son's
job since he couldn't find anything offensive in his long career. Javed made it clear, nevertheless, that his critique was aimed at Animal's appeal to viewers rather than the creator's authority to produce such movies. Animal, starring Ranbir Kapoor, was a
box office triumph, earning over Rs 900 crore worldwide, in spite of controversy.
According to
media estimates,
sandeep has become one of the most paid filmmakers in
indian cinema, earning in excess of Rs 100 crore in compensation. Given that Sandeep's brother
pranay Vanga produces his films, the Vanga siblings would undoubtedly receive a substantial payoff given that Animal has brought in close to 900 crores in revenue globally. This might corroborate the rumors of the Rs 100 crore paycheque.
