The Petition contesting the election Commission's decision to exclude volunteers from the pension distribution process was dismissed by the andhra pradesh High Court. V. Varalakshmi and two other locals of Kunchanapalli hamlet in the guntur district filed the PIL. They asked the court to issue a temporary injunction compelling the european Commission to revoke its ruling.
The petitioner's attorney informed the court that the CS had directed the district collectors to distribute pensions in different methods and that volunteers had previously delivered benefits to people's homes. Meanwhile, even in states without a volunteer system, the court confirmed that pensions are being disbursed properly. Rejecting the PIL, it claimed that the election commission has taken all the required steps to ensure that pensions are disbursed smoothly.
Due to ec directive interruptions, elderly pensioners in the state had difficulty on wednesday collecting their pension amount at the appropriate village/ward secretariats. The intense heat caused an elderly woman to pass away when she was travelling to pick up her welfare pension. Early in the morning, the retirees made their way to the village/ward secretariats in the hopes that their pension funds would be released. They were dissatisfied as the secretariat officials had gone to the banks to withdraw funds for the distribution.
