Telangana Hyderabad - No more construction permits within 50 mts of Musi river
Rejuvenation plans for a 55-kilometer stretch from the Osmansagar dam downstream to the Outer Ring Road (ORR) east at Gouravelli and from Himayatsagar downstream to the confluence site at Bapughat have been proposed by the Musi Riverfront Development Corporation Limited (MRDCL).
The Old City will be developed in several ways by this project, including pedestrian zones, plazas, heritage areas, bike paths, green spaces, hawker zones, bridges, sports facilities, parking lots, commercial spaces, retail areas, and infrastructure related to hospitality.
Furthermore, the project will prioritize the implementation of a comprehensive strategy aimed at converting the River Musi and its environs into an environmentally sustainable area. An additional important part of this endeavour is the preservation of cultural heritage places.
Town planning authorities, zonal commissioners, and deputy municipal commissioners within the GHMC's purview are all covered by this instruction.
To ensure compliance with maintaining water bodies as recreational and green buffer zones from Osmansagar dam to ORR east near Gowrelly and from Himayatsagar dam to the confluence point at bapu Ghat, ghmc Commissioner D Ronald Rose sent a circular to ghmc zonal commissioners, DMCs, and town planning authorities.
Teams of revenue officers under the direction of deputy collectors have been assembled to carry out a survey covering a distance of 55 km and 14 Mandals.
Amrapali Kata, the managing director of musi river Development Corporation Limited, stated in a letter that the survey found substantial building activity within a 50-meter radius of the river.
