All 17 of Telangana's seats will cast ballots in the state's fourth round of the lok sabha election on Monday, May 13. Voters will choose the destiny of 525 candidates, with around 3.17 crore expected to participate. These seats will be voted in between the hours of 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. on june 4, when the results will be counted.
Elections in 96 seats in Bihar, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, West Bengal, and andhra pradesh will take place in addition to Telangana.
Heightened security
Comprehensive security measures have been planned by director General of police (DGP) ravi Gupta. These will involve the strategic deployment of different law enforcement forces. 73,414 police officers, 500 TS special police units, 164 companies of the Central Armed police Force, three companies of the tamil Nadu SAP, 2,088 people from other departments, and 7,000 home Guards from neighboring states are also part of this deployment.
A network of 482 fixed static teams, 462 static surveillance teams, 89 inter-state data-border checkpoints, and 173 inter-district checkpoints has also been built by the police.
Over 35K polling stations
As many as 35,809 polling places have been set up in telangana, and 1,96 lakh workers—including 3,522 sector officers, route officers, and 12,909 micro-observers—will be on duty there, according to Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Vikas Raj. Furthermore, 453 additional voting places have been set up.
In that order, the three smallest polling places have 10, 12, and 14 registered voters. There are less than 25 voters in 11 stations, less than 50 voters in 22 stations, and less than 100 votes in 54 stations.
Raj reported the deployment of 1,05,019 Balloting Units (BUs), 44,569 Control Units (CUs), and 48,134 VVPATs about Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs). Each assembly section now has three ECIL engineers assigned to handle EVM faults.
525 candidates to test their luck
Telangana is set for a high-stakes triangular battle between the congress, BRS, and bjp, with 525 candidates in the fray. The seventeen constituencies in telangana include hyderabad, Adilabad, Peddapalli, Karimnagar, Nizamabad, Medak, Malkajgiri, Secunderabad, Chevella, Mahbubnagar, Nalgonda, Nagarkurnool, Bhuvanagiri, Warangal, Mahbubabad, Khammam, and Zahirabad.
In 2019, the Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) won nine of the 17 seats. The bharatiya janata party (BJP) won four seats congress won three, and asaduddin owaisi was the only AIMIM candidate to emerge victorious from the hyderabad constituency.
