Delay in paddy procurement leaves farmers worried in Medak
The area has been experiencing constant rainfall for the past four days, leaving farmers concerned. The farmers had been waiting nearly a month for their products to be acquired at various locations.
Out of the 393 procurement centers that have opened in the medak district alone, 321 are still open since procurement has not yet been finished. Officials from Sanagreddy and siddipet could not be reached for procurement figures. However, procurement is still ongoing in some locations.
Hanumantha reddy, a farmer from narsapur in medak district, said they had been waiting at procurement sites for many days because authorities were delayed due to a scarcity of 'hamalis', gunny bags, and vehicles, among other reasons.
He stated that they have deposited Rs.324 crore in farmers' accounts, with Rs.127 crore still outstanding. The procurement is likely to be finished soon, he said. EOM area residents are concerned about the continual rains that are soaking the paddy transported to procurement sites.
