AP Loses Hyderabad to Telangana, But...
This may create some grief for the people of andhra pradesh, who still lack a true capital city ten years after split, but their telangana counterparts would be the only proprietors of a worldwide city such as Hyderabad.
In truth, the people of andhra pradesh lost their capital, hyderabad, about nine years ago, when then-chief minister and telugu desam party president N chandrababu naidu relocated to vijayawada following the infamous cash-for-vote scandal.
However, Naidu preferred to function from vijayawada, and within months, the whole secretariat personnel relocated to Amaravati. The state legislature was relocated shortly thereafter, and the HC followed suit a few years later.
For all practical purposes, hyderabad has not been Andhra Pradesh's capital since 2015. Nonetheless, the inhabitants of andhra pradesh felt an emotional tie to the city, which remained the joint capital, at least on paper. Furthermore, the andhra pradesh government maintained authority over a few structures in Hyderabad.
Andhra people have a strong interest in hyderabad, including connections, real estate and corporate ventures, education, and even medical care. They still have a strong sense of ownership in telangana, particularly in hyderabad, and nothing hinders them from visiting.
So, physically, hyderabad may have become part of telangana, but it remains a home for the people of Andhra Pradesh!
