Panyam is one of the seven assembly segments of nandyala Lok Sabha constituency. katasani rambhupal reddy from ycp and Gauru Charita reddy from tdp alliance contested in Panyam constituency. Orvakallu, Kallur, Gadivemula and Panyam mandals come under this constituency. The total number of voters here is 322,799.

Gauru Charita reddy contested from Panyam constituency in 2014 and won. Earlier, she served as the mla for Nandykotkur from 2004-2009 and Panyam from 2014-2019. She is also a member of women and Child Welfare Committee in AP. Her husband Gauru Venkata reddy is also a politician.
Katasani Rambhupal reddy won the 2019 election from Panyam. Previously, he won the assembly elections in 1985, 1989, 1994, 2004 and 2009 and became mla from Panyam six times. He contested from Panyam in the 2024 assembly elections. It looks like he will lose this time but he is trailing in two rounds now and it remains to be seen if Katasani has any chance of making a comeback in the earlier rounds. It seems that the main reason for YCP's defeat was the change of sitting MLAs. It is truly amazing that people who have been given many welfare schemes do not vote for YCP.
