Intense evening showers throw life out of gear in Hyderabad
On wednesday evening, june 5, rain and thunderstorms persisted, disrupting daily life in Hyderabad. Commuters were inconvenienced by the brief but powerful rainfall, which resulted in waterlogging and traffic congestion in numerous regions. For hours, there was traffic disruption in several areas of the city.
Hyderabad and the surrounding areas might get "generally cloudy skies, light to moderate rain coupled with thunder and wind upto 40 kmph towards evening or night," according to an indian Metrological Department. On wednesday, june 5, the lowest and highest recorded temperatures were 36.1 and 24.6 degrees Celsius, respectively.
Several roads in the Old City were inundated following heavy rains. Complaints of heavy water clogging on the roads were received from Al Jubail Colony, Tallabkatta, Bilalnagar, Tadbun, Bibi Bazar, Mir Ka Daira, Yakutpura Bridge, Dhobi Ghat, Dabeerpura Darwaza etc.
The motorists had to struggle to wade through the water at places up to four feet. vehicles parked in front of shops were washed away at Tallabkatta, Moula ka Chilla, Bhavaninagar, Yakutpura, Chaderghat, and chanchalguda due to heavy water flow on the roads.
The lack of bus shelters at various bus stations in the ancient city caused discomfort to TSRTC bus riders during the severe downpour. It was seen that the bus riders were seeking cover in front of the stores.
Due to the intense rain and clogged waterways, auto rickshaws were forced off the road for an hour. Due to construction, traffic flow was impacted on many major highways, including the Bahadurpura-Shivarampally and the Santoshnagar-Saidabad roads.
The Greater hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) received complaints from residents regarding clogged roadways, however, the officials were unable to remove the water right away because of the intense rains.
Furthermore, various parts of Telangana, such as Adilabad, bhadradri Kothagudem, Hanamkonda, hyderabad, Jagital, Jayashankar Bhupalapally, Jogulamba Gadwal, Kamareddy, Karimnagar, Khammam, komaram bheem Asifabad, Mahabubabad, Mahabubnagar, Mancherial, Medak, medchal Malkajigiri, Mulugu, Nagarkurnool, Nalgonda, Narayanpet, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Peddapalli, Rajanna Sirsilla, Rangareddy, Sangareddy, Siddipet, Suryapet, Vikarabad, Wanaparthy, Warangal, and yadadri Bhuvanagir are expected to experience moderate to heavy rains accompanied by lightening and gusty winds from june 6 to june 9.
The IMD has predicted the possibility of rain in the Charminar, Khairthabad, Kukatpally, LB Nagar, Secundrabad, and Serilingampally zones.
