Pune cops to move Supreme Court over teen driver's release
The maharashtra Chief minister has given pune police permission to appeal the bombay High Court's decision to free a 17-year-old kid who was allegedly engaged in a porsche vehicle accident in May to the supreme Court. The state government was consulted by the pune police when they decided to file an appeal against the high court ruling with the supreme court.
On june 25, the top court ordered the adolescent defendant's immediate release, citing the illegality of the Juvenile Justice Board's (JJB) remand orders that sent him to an observation home and the necessity of properly enforcing the law pertaining to juveniles.

Following a public uproar, the teenager—who had been freed on bail just hours after the May 19 accident—was transferred to the observation home in pune, maharashtra, three days later.
Following the high court judgement, the minor left the observation house and his paternal aunt was given custody of him.
The boy's aunt filed a petition alleging he was being held unlawfully, and on that basis the order was made.

Following the incident in the wee hours of May 19, the JJB granted the youngster bail the same day and stipulated that he must remain under his grandfather's and parents' care. In addition, a 300-word essay on road safety was required of the youngster.
The police applied to the JJB to have the bail order amended since the public was outraged by the speedy bail on liberal terms.
The youngster was placed under arrest and remanded to the observation home by the board on May 22.
