Bihar bridge collapse - 12th Incident in 17 Days
The fifteen-year-old bridge across the Gandaki River, which linked settlements in saran to the nearby Siwan area, collapsed, although no injuries were recorded. Although the cause is still being looked into, officials have cited recent desilting work that has taken place nearby.
Two of the three bridges in Saran, which were located on the Gandak River and only a km apart, fell on wednesday in the span of two hours. One bridge was built close to the Dodh Nath temple in 2004. The other was a building from the british era.
Aside from Saran, reports of bridge failures in the past two weeks have come from the districts of Siwan, Chhapra, Madhubani, Araria, east Champaran, and Kishanganj.
