Hathras stampede: madhukar Satsang's "organiser" in custody...


A court in Uttar Pradesh has sentenced Dev Prakash Madhukar, the main accused in the stampede that killed 121 people, to 14 days of judicial prison. The primary suspect in the FIR submitted following the stampede, Madhukar, was taken into custody, hathras police announced on Friday. madhukar had secured permission from the sub-divisional magistrate in the area for the satsang. 

Since July 2, madhukar had been evading capture. He was taken into custody late on friday night, according to Hathras superintendent of police Nipun Agarwal. "Detail questions regarding his relationship with baba will be asked of him, and details regarding the other key members of the organizing committee will also be obtained." The police had promised to pay ₹1 lakh to anyone who could have madhukar arrested.  Locals claim that madhukar and other close aides oversaw all of Bhole Baba's major operations in Hathras. Narayan Sarkar Hari or Suraj Pal Singh are other names for Bhole Baba.

Political parties recently got in touch with Madhukar: Police

According to Agarwal, madhukar received a call from a few political groups lately. "His cash transactions and money trails are being looked into, and call detail records also being checked," Agarwal stated. 'Mukhya sevadar' of the'satsang' where the stampede took place is Madhukar. In the police report filed at the Sikandra Rao police station in hathras regarding the event, he is the only listed culprit.

Saturday was the Judicial Inquiry Commission's (the Uttar Pradesh government's) inspection of the site of the July 2 stampede that claimed 121 lives, at Hathras. The commission is led by former allahabad High court judge Brijesh Kumar Srivastava and includes former IAS officer hemant Rao and former IPS officer Bhavesh Kumar Singh. Justice Srivastava stated that the commission will question each and every party involved. "We inspected the entire region, including the entry and exit points. It's premature to make any conclusions. We will question everyone who needs to be questioned. Yes, we will file our report in two months as required by law," he said.
