Raise compensation for Hathras stampede victims - Rahul Gandhi

G GOWTHAM
Rahul Gandhi, a congress MP, wrote to yogi adityanath, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, pleading with him to enhance the compensation awarded to the relatives of those killed or injured in a large stampede that occurred on July 2 during a "satsang" in Hathras.

During a'satsang' that Bhole Baba, whose true name is Suraj Pal Singh, arranged, a stampede resulted in at least 121 deaths and several injuries.

Rahul Gandhi, who recently visited with the relatives of those killed in the stampede, demanded in a letter to yogi adityanath a thorough and impartial probe into the disaster. To ensure that the families received justice, he demanded that the offenders data-face severe consequences.

He called yogi Adityanath's present compensation from the Uttar Pradesh government "inadequate" and encouraged him to increase it so that the families of those who perished or were injured in the stampede may get it as soon as possible.

The Uttar Pradesh government and the Centre have promised compensation for the relatives of those killed in the stampede, each at Rs 2 lakh, and for the injured, each at Rs 50,000.

In his letter, rahul gandhi said that after seeing and listening to the stampede victims in hathras, he was speechless and that it was crucial to help them through their trying times.

He conveyed the hope that his requests would be addressed and that the state administration would respond as soon as possible.

A three-member judicial panel that was established to look into the stampede disaster arrived in hathras on Sunday. They will be recording the accounts of authorities, police officers, and other people who were part of the "satsang."

"We observed the entire area. Here in this room are all of the committee members. All those who require questioning will be questioned by us. According to news agency ANI, Justice (retd) Brijesh Kumar Srivastava stated, "Yes, we will submit our report within two months."
