The Oscar-winning producer Jon Landau, who co-produced blockbusters including avatar and titanic, has passed away. He was sixty-three. In a statement to the media on Saturday, his family announced his passing. The reason of death was kept private. Landau was a longtime friend and collaborator of director james cameron, who co-directed two of the biggest blockbusters in contemporary movie history, titanic and Avatar.

"(He was) a dear friend, and my closest collaborator of 31 years. A part of myself has been torn away. His zany humour, personal magnetism, great generosity of spirit and fierce will have held the centre of our avatar universe for almost two decades. His legacy is not just the films he produced, but the personal example he set — indomitable, caring, inclusive, tireless, insightful and utterly unique,” cameron was quoted as saying by the Associated Press.
Avatar star Zoe Saldana mourned the loss of the producer on social media and wrote, "Your wisdom and support shaped so many of us in ways we will always be grateful for. Your legacy will continue to inspire us and guide us in our journey.” Jon Landau is survived by his wife Julie, and their sons, Jamie and Jodie.
