Heavy rain in Mumbai, half-day in schools, 27 flights diverted

Early on monday morning, heavy rain battered mumbai and its suburbs, producing massive waterlogging on important roadways and low-lying regions, severely impairing the daily lives of city dwellers and creating severe traffic jams around the city. A number of train services were cancelled, and 27 flights from the mumbai airport were rerouted to other locations. According to municipal officials, the city received almost 300 mm of rain in six hours, from 1 am to 7 am, in different locations.
 Considerable water buildup was observed in a number of places, including Vile Parle, Dadar, Kurla, Bhandup, Andheri, and King's Circle. In several areas of India's financial capital, transportation came to a complete stop as a result of the unceasing rain overwhelming storm drains.


In several places, individuals were wading through knee-deep water while vehicles were observed drifting in the water. Over 300 millimetres of rain fell in six hours, from midnight yesterday to seven a.m. today, in various locations.
