PM Modi leaves for Russia, to meet President Putin in Moscow

On Monday, prime minister Narendra Modi left for a two-day trip to russia, where he would meet and speak with President Vladimir Putin on a variety of topics in Moscow. After concluding his commitments in moscow on July 9 and 10, PM Modi will make his first trip to russia in over five years.
In addition to becoming the first indian prime minister to visit austria since indira gandhi in 1983, the prime minister's visit will also be the first time an indian prime minister has been there in 41 years. Prior to his departure, prime minister Modi stated that india will have the chance to strengthen ties with both russia and austria on his next trips. He said that india had a long-standing connection with both nations. The prime minister added that he was excited to communicate with the indian population residing in these nations.
 

Speaking about his visit to russia, the prime minister said, "The special and privileged strategic partnership between india and russia has advanced over the past ten years, including in the areas of energy, security, trade, investment, health, education, culture, tourism and people-to-people exchanges."
"I look forward to reviewing all aspects of bilateral cooperation with my friend President Vladimir Putin and sharing perspectives on various regional and global issues. We seek to play a supportive role in a peaceful and stable region. The visit will also provide me with an opportunity to meet the vibrant indian community in russia," he added.

On the day of arrival, Putin will give PM Modi a special supper. PM Modi was scheduled to meet with the indian diaspora in russia the next day. Additionally, on june 9, the prime minister will lay a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in the Kremlin. He will next go to the moscow show site and see the Rosatom pavilion.
