Incomplete Chargesheet - BRS leader K Kavitha moves default bail application
On april 11, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) took her into custody at Tihar prison. Initially, the agency had questioned her on papers pertaining to a land deal and whatsapp conversations that were found on co-accused Buchi Babu's phone. The BRS leader was originally taken into custody by the Enforcement Directorate on march 15 at her banjara hills residence in Hyderabad. She is the daughter of former telangana chief minister K Chandrashekhar Rao.
Kavitha's bail requests in two instances including corruption and money laundering connected to the liquor policy issue were denied earlier on July 1 by the delhi High Court.
The applications were denied by a bench chaired by Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma, who had postponed the judgement on the bail arguments until May 28.
Because she is the only woman among the 50 accused in the excise case, Kavitha's attorney claimed that the law treats women differently and requested the court to give her bail in light of this.
