Owners of building housing Delhi coaching centre arrested, bulldozer action soon
The proprietors of the basement and the driver whose car was spotted passing the coaching facility and causing a massive wave of water to smash against the institute's gate, reportedly destroying it during the intense rains, are among those detained, according to police on Monday.
On Sunday, the proprietor and organiser of Rau's IAS Study Circle, the scene of the tragedy, were taken into custody. Both were taken into judicial detention after being accused of negligently causing death as well as other offences.
• In addition, the owner of a Force Gurkha vehicle that is thought to have caused damage to the building's gate has been arrested. The SUV is shown in a now-viral video travelling down the flooded road in front of the coaching institution, which causes a significant volume of water to hit the institute's gate. When pressure builds up, the gate gives way and water pours into the basement.
• According to sources, police will send out a notice requesting information and interrogate local officials regarding the drainage infrastructure in the region. The FIR lists the people in charge of system maintenance as defendants.
• Bulldozers have arrived on the area and police have given the go-ahead for the operation to clear encroachments close to Rau's IAS Study Centre.
