One year of YSRCP Anarchy in Angallu!!

G GOWTHAM
Today marks the one-year anniversary of the event in which YSRCP cadres threw stones at then opposition leader Chandrababu Naidu as he was touring projects in the Annamaiya area. The police, who were meant to put an end to the violence during this sad incident, instead brought an unlawful attempt to kill case against Chandrababu.

Attempts at murder and other serious offences were filed against tdp members, many of whom were not even in the state on the day of the event. These people were sentenced to 45 days in prison, whereas the YSRCP officials who started the altercation were just charged with a misdemeanour.

Through these incidents, some 750 tdp leaders and workers from the constituencies of Tamballapalle, Peeleru, and madanapalle were subjected to harassment. Even though the Angallu incident happened a year ago, no chargesheet has been filed—something that normally happens within 90 days. Numerous people who were wrongfully imprisoned were among the numerous implicated by YSRCP officials, and the probe is still ongoing.

The involved police officers were later reassigned in the meantime. This case highlights a troubling feature of the state's political and judicial processes by reflecting the enormous political tension and the use of legal procedures to harass members of the opposition.
