Such a position at a young age..!?
The
election for the next president of the
international cricket Council (ICC) will be held in November. New Zealander Greg Barclay has been the ICC President for the last 4 years. In this context, it is reported that
bcci Secretary Jay Shah will contest the
election for the ICC President to be held in November. This means that if Jay Shah wants to contest for the post of ICC president, there is a high chance that he will be selected. Also, if he takes over as the ICC president, he will hold the post for the next three years. There is a high possibility that he will also become the
bcci president in the coming year 2018.
According to ICC rules, there are 16 votes in the
election of the president and now nine votes (51%) are needed to win. Earlier, to be sworn in as president, a two-thirds majority was required, and there was a situation where Jay Shah would get 16 votes. If Jay Shah is elected as the ICC president, he will have the honor of being elected as the youngest ICC president.
If Jay Shah, who has been the
bcci secretary for the past 5 years, contests in the ICC elections, there will be a situation where he will resign from the post of
bcci secretary. It is noteworthy that recently the
legend of the
indian team,
sunil Gavaskar, had greatly appreciated the steps taken by
bcci for the development of
cricket in
india during Jay Shah's tenure.
