The india Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for gujarat due to exceptionally heavy rainfall that has caused widespread flooding in several districts. The alert, announced on Monday, warns of continued heavy rain over the next two to three days as a deep depression moves from east Rajasthan towards Saurashtra. The IMD has identified gujarat as a high-risk zone for flash floods, with significant impacts already reported in Valsad, Tapi, Navsari, Surat, Narmada, and Panchmahal.

According to the Chief Minister's office, 17,827 people have been evacuated and 1,653 rescued. The state has deployed 13 NDRF teams and 22 SDRF teams to assist with relief and rescue efforts.
