Railway Board appoints first ever Dalit chairman

The Railway Board has named indian Railway Management service (IRMS) officer Satish Kumar as its chairman and chief executive officer (CEO). He is the first member of the Dalit or scheduled caste community to be chosen for this role, making his appointment historic.
On september 1, Kumar is expected to take over as the board's CEO and chairwoman, succeeding Jaya varma Sinha, who is retiring on august 31. The Railway Board has named indian Railway Management service (IRMS) officer Satish Kumar as its chairman and chief executive officer (CEO). Who Is Satish Kumar?

The Railway Board has recognized Kumar, a renowned officer from the 1986 batch of the indian Railway service of Mechanical Engineers (IRSME), for his outstanding services to indian Railways throughout the course of a long career spanning more than 34 years.
 
According to a report by news agency PTI, a Board official stated, "On november 8, 2022, he took charge as the General Manager of North Central Railway, Prayagraj, marking another milestone in his journey of public service."
 

"His educational background is as impressive as his professional achievements; he holds a B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering from the prestigious Malaviya National Institute of technology (MNIT), Jaipur, and has further enhanced his knowledge with a Post Graduate diploma in Operation Management and Cyber Law from indira gandhi National Open University," according to him.
 
Since starting his career with indian Railways in march 1988, Kumar has occupied a number of crucial positions in a variety of zones and divisions. During his tenure, he has played a pivotal role in propelling innovation, augmenting efficiency, and executing crucial safety enhancements in the railway system.
