Significant Traffic Disruption on Ghodbunder Road After Truck Accident
Traffic on the heavily-trafficked Ghodbunder Road in thane city was severely disrupted for over five hours on wednesday morning following an accident involving a truck that fell from a flyover, according to civic officials.
The incident took place in the Patlipada area around 7:30 AM. The truck, which was transporting 34 tonnes of a chemical, was en route from Nhava Sheva to Bawal in haryana when the accident occurred. Yasin Tadvi, the head of the Disaster Management Cell for Thane’s civic body, reported that the truck driver sustained only minor injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Local residents reported experiencing eye irritation due to exposure to the chemical paraformaldehyde, but officials assured that the situation was not severe. Emergency services, including local firefighters and civic rescuers, quickly responded to the scene to clear the obstruction from the busy road.
The accident caused significant traffic delays, with congestion lasting for over five hours on the route heading towards Ghodbunder. Many schools in the area had to advise parents to make alternative transportation arrangements for their children, as school buses were unable to navigate the affected route.
This incident followed another major traffic disruption on the same road just the previous day, which had lasted for more than 11 hours due to a separate accident.
