NIA Charges Four in Bengaluru Rameshwaram Cafe Blast Case
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on monday filed a charge sheet against four individuals in connection with the Rameshwaram Cafe blast case in Bengaluru. The accused are Mussavir Hussain Shazib, Abdul Matheen ahmed Taaha, Maaz Muneer Ahmed, and Muzammil Shareef. They were previously arrested and are currently in judicial custody. According to the NIA, Taaha and Shazib received funding through cryptocurrencies from their handler.
The funds were used for violent activities in Bengaluru, including a failed IED attack on the bjp office in Malleshwaram on january 22, which was intended to coincide with the pran Pratishtha ceremony at Ayodhya. The blast at the Rameshwaram Cafe on march 1 resulted in nine injuries and significant damage to the hotel.
The NIA's investigation, which began on march 3, involved extensive technical and fieldwork with various state police and other agencies. Shazib was identified as the individual who planted the bomb. Both Shazib and Taaha had been on the run since 2020 following the dismantling of the Al-Hind module. They were arrested in West bengal 42 days after the cafe explosion.
Shazib and Taaha were known isis radicals from Shivamogga District, Karnataka, who had been radicalizing other Muslim youths. Maaz Muneer ahmed and Muzammil Shareef were among those influenced. The investigation also revealed that Taaha had used fraudulent indian SIM cards, bank accounts, and documents from the Dark Web.
Taaha was introduced to Mohammed Shaheed Faisal, an absconder in the LeT Bengaluru conspiracy case, by Shoaib ahmed Mirza, an ex-convict. Faisal was later connected to Mehaboob Pasha from the Al-Hind isis module case, Khaja Mohideen, the Amir of isis South India, and Maaz Muneer Ahmed.
