Police Offer Rs 2 Lakh Reward for Information on Blast Suspects
CHANDIGARH: The chandigarh police have announced a reward of Rs 2 lakh for information leading to the arrest of two suspects involved in a recent blast case in Sector 10. The explosion, described as a small pressure-type blast, occurred at a residence in Sector 10 on wednesday evening. It caused damage to windows and flower pots but did not result in any injuries.
The police have urged anyone with information about the suspects to contact them through the police Control Room at 0172-2749194 or 112, or via whatsapp at 9465121000.
Sub Inspector Lakhwinder Singh stated that the investigation is ongoing and a team from the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) is expected to return to the scene for further examination. The investigation had to be paused the previous day due to darkness. Singh mentioned that security measures have been put in place to protect the evidence.
A three-wheeler was recovered from the scene, but the suspects remain at large. Singh confirmed that the family residing at the affected house, who are from Australia, has no known issues with anyone that might be related to the incident. The investigation will consider if there is any link to the family.
Earlier on wednesday, both police and forensic teams visited the site to collect evidence. One person has already been arrested in connection with the blast. The Senior Superintendent of police (SSP) noted that the blast caused damage to windows and flower pots. According to the SSP, a witness reported seeing two individuals near the residence who allegedly threw a grenade-like object from an auto-rickshaw. The search for these suspects continues as the investigation into the cause of the blast proceeds.
