Three Terrorists Killed in Baramulla Encounter Following Soldiers' Deaths in Kishtwar
On friday night, an encounter between security forces and militants in Jammu and Kashmir's Baramulla district resulted in the deaths of three terrorists. The gunfight, which began in the Pattan area, concluded on saturday with the recovery of the terrorists' bodies.
Recent Violent Incidents
Earlier on friday, two soldiers were killed and two others injured during a clash with terrorists in Chatroo village, Kishtwar district. The confrontation erupted when a combined team of the army and police launched a cordon-and-search operation in the Naidgham area of Chatroo, following intelligence tips. One of the fallen soldiers, Nb Sub Vipin Kumar, hailed from Patra village.
These incidents occur as the region prepares for upcoming elections. The first phase of voting is scheduled for september 18 in eight assembly segments across the Chenab Valley, including Doda, Kishtwar, and Ramban districts, as well as 16 seats in the south kashmir districts of Anantnag, Pulwama, Shopian, and Kulgam. elections in Jammu, Kathua, and Samba districts will take place in the second and third phases on september 25 and october 1, respectively.
Prime minister Modi's Visit
In the midst of heightened security, prime minister Narendra Modi is set to campaign in Doda district on saturday, marking his first visit to the area in 42 years. He will address a large rally, with extensive security measures in place across Doda and Kishtwar districts, particularly around the event location in Doda town's stadium, to ensure a secure and orderly rally.
