PM Modi Inaugurates Six New Vande Bharat Trains and Launches Additional Projects in Jharkhand
On Sunday, prime minister Narendra Modi virtually inaugurated six new Vande Bharat trains from Tatanagar, jharkhand, expanding the indian Railways fleet. This increase boosts the fleet from 54 to 60 train sets, with 120 daily trips serving over 280 districts across 24 states and union territories.
The new trains will enhance connectivity on the Tatanagar-Patna, Bhagalpur-Dumka-Howrah, Brahmapur-Tatanagar, Gaya-Howrah, Deoghar-Varanasi, and Rourkela-Howrah routes. In his address to jharkhand residents, PM Modi celebrated these developments, noting the addition of six trains, projects valued at over Rs. 650 crores, improved connectivity, and housing for thousands.
The Ministry of Railways stated, “The Vande Bharat portfolio is expanding with new services to boost connectivity. Designed under the 'Make in India' initiative, these trains feature advanced technology, providing luxury and efficiency for passengers.”
The new routes for these trains are Tatanagar-Patna, Brahmapur-Tatanagar, Rourkela-Howrah, Deoghar-Varanasi, Bhagalpur-Howrah, and Gaya-Howrah. The ministry highlighted that indian Railways is setting new standards with faster travel times, advanced safety features, and top-notch amenities.
The Railway Ministry noted that Vande Bharat, as a flagship project of the 'Make in India' campaign, embodies India’s goal of a modern, efficient rail system, capable of speeds up to 160 km/h. To date, with 54 trains (108 services), the Vande Bharat fleet has completed around 36,000 trips and transported over 3.17 crore passengers.
The original Vande Bharat train has evolved into Vande Bharat 2.0, which includes improvements like faster acceleration, Kavach (a safety system), anti-virus capabilities, and WiFi. The Ministry emphadata-sized that these trains not only demonstrate the success of the 'Make in India' initiative but also establish new global standards for speed, safety, and service. With ongoing expansion, indian Railways aims to provide seamless, comfortable, and efficient travel across the country.
The first Vande Bharat train was launched on february 15, 2019.
