100 Days of Modi 3.0: Major Agenda Plans Unveiled
In the initial 100 days of the 'Modi 3.0' administration, the government has displayed confidence and a proactive approach in implementing its significant agenda. Here’s an overview of the key decisions and plans:
Upcoming Initiatives
One Nation One Poll: The government aims to implement a unified election system during this term. The ram nath kovind Committee's report is with the Centre, which might soon initiate a census, potentially including caste data, though no final decision has been made yet. Discussions on this matter are ongoing.
Restoration of Jammu & kashmir Statehood: Steps will be taken to restore statehood to Jammu & kashmir as soon as possible after elections.
Uniform Civil Code: Reports from 4-5 states on a ‘Uniform Civil Code’ are expected within the next few months, following Uttarakhand’s implementation of the code.
Infrastructure and Economic Development
Major Infrastructure Projects: Over Rs 3 lakh crore in infrastructure projects have been approved, including:
Wadhavan Port in maharashtra (Rs 76,200 crore)
Next phase of PM Gram Sadak Yojana to connect 25,000 villages (Rs 49,000 crore)
Roads and high-speed corridors (Rs 50,600 crore)
New railway lines, three new airports, and metro projects in Bengaluru, Pune, and Thane
This investment aims to boost job creation and includes a Rs 2 lakh crore package benefiting 4.1 crore youth. Additionally, one crore ‘Lakhpati Didis’ now earn Rs 1 lakh annually, with 11 lakh receiving certificates in the last 100 days. Other initiatives include 3 crore more houses under PM Awas Yojana, a unified pension scheme, and income tax benefits for the middle class.
Farmer-Friendly Policies
PM Kisan Nidhi: The total payout under this scheme has reached Rs 3 lakh crore, with an additional Rs 2 lakh crore benefiting farmers through increased MSP. The Modi government has achieved a procurement rate of 120% under MSP, compared to around 33% during the UPA era. The approach focuses on covering the input costs for 82% of farmers with less than 2.5 acres of land, avoiding the previous UPA-style farm loan waivers.
Foreign Policy Achievements
Diplomatic Engagements: Modi’s recent visits to Russia, Ukraine, Austria, Poland, and Brunei, along with hosting over 120 countries at the ‘Voice of Global South’ summit, highlight India’s strengthened foreign policy. The government also declared june 25 as ‘Samvidhan satya Divas’ to educate youth about the Emergency period, aiming to reinforce democratic values.
Legislative Changes
Criminal Justice System: Three new criminal laws have been enacted, potentially modernizing India’s criminal justice system by reducing investigation and judicial delays.
Waqf Amendment Bill: This bill aims to improve the administration and protection of Waqf properties, moving away from appeasement policies.
Additional Measures
Ayushman Bharat: Benefits have been extended to all individuals aged 70 and above.
Opposition views the PM Kisan nidhi scheme as politically motivated, but the government presents it as a genuine effort to empower farmers rather than a mere freebie.
