Detonators and Gas Cylinder Discovered on Railway Tracks in UP and Madhya Pradesh
Authorities reported multiple sabotage attempts targeting railway operations, with alarming incidents in madhya pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. On september 18, near Sagphata railway station in Burhanpur district, several detonators were found on the tracks, aimed at disrupting a special army train transporting personnel from kashmir - SRINAGAR/JAMMU' target='_blank' title='jammu and kashmir-Latest Updates, Photos, Videos are a click away, CLICK NOW">jammu and kashmir to Karnataka. The train's locomotive pilot applied emergency brakes upon hearing the detonators activate, promptly alerting railway control.
These detonators, typically used for signaling during foggy conditions, were expired, raising concerns about how they ended up on the tracks and the potential motives behind the incident. The investigation is being conducted by the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), the National Investigation Agency (NIA), railway authorities, and local police.
In a related incident in Uttar Pradesh, a gas cylinder was discovered on the tracks near Prempur railway station on the Delhi-Howrah line on september 22. This marked the third derailment attempt in the kanpur area this month. The Railway Protection Force (RPF) and government Railway police (GRP) responded swiftly after the locomotive pilot of a freight train spotted the cylinder and used emergency brakes to halt the train, ensuring safety as it approached.
Railway officials inspected the scene and found that the 5-liter cylinder was empty. An investigation has been launched to determine the circumstances surrounding its placement on the tracks. Earlier in the month, on september 9, a similar incident occurred when the Kalindi Express, traveling from Prayagraj to Bhiwani in Haryana, encountered a gas cylinder on the track, narrowly avoiding an accident.
Additionally, on september 21, railway officials thwarted another derailment attempt in Surat, Gujarat, by discovering and removing fish plates and keys from the railway track near Kim Railway Station. The series of incidents has heightened security concerns across the railway network as investigations continue.
