It is said that Safieddine also has good relations with Iran. His son is married to the daughter of former Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) commander General Qasim Suleimani. After the death of Hassan Nasrallah in the air strike carried out by israel in Beirut, it is also being said in the Israeli media that when Nasrallah was attacked, Hashem Safieddin was also present with him, but luckily he survived.

Safeddin resembles his cousin Nasrallah in stature. Born in 1964 in Der Qanun al-Nahar in southern Lebanon, Safieddin was appointed Nasrallah's successor since the 1990s. Safieddin was called back to Beirut just two years after Nasrallah took over as the chief of Hezbollah.
