Karnataka cm Siddaramaiah's wife Decides to Return Controversial MUDA Plots

BM Parvathi, the wife of karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah, has announced her intention to return 14 controversial plots of land allocated to her by the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA). She emphadata-sized that her husband’s honour and dignity take precedence over any property or wealth.
This marks the first time parvathi has publicly addressed the issue. In a letter to the MUDA commissioner, she stated her decision to return the plots, which were compensation for 3 acres and 16 guntas of land in Kesare that had been illegally encroached upon. “Nothing is more important than my husband’s honour and dignity. I have never sought anything from a family that has wielded power for so long,” she noted, clarifying that this decision was made independently, without consulting her husband, their son Yathindra Siddaramaiah, or any family member.
In her letter, she expressed her desire to surrender the compensation plots and requested the cancellation of the deeds executed in her name. “I am also handing over possession of the plots back to MUDA. Please take the necessary steps at your earliest convenience,” she wrote.
Parvathi praised her husband's 40-year political career, highlighting his unwavering ethics and commitment to his principles. She mentioned that she has always kept a low profile to protect his reputation. “I have never sought a house, property, or wealth. While I appreciate the support the people have shown my husband, I am hurt by the allegations regarding the MUDA land allotment, which was a gift from my brother,” she explained, expressing dismay over the unfair accusations her husband has data-faced.
Known for her low-key presence, parvathi rarely participates in public events and has not attended any swearing-in ceremonies during Siddaramaiah’s two terms as chief minister.
The controversy centers around allegations that the compensatory plots awarded to Siddaramaiah’s wife are located in a high-value area of Mysuru, raising questions about the fairness of the allotment process. The bjp has been calling for a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the matter. A petition for a cbi investigation into an alleged MUDA scam involving Siddaramaiah was filed in the karnataka High court on september 28.
In response to the controversy, the karnataka government has retracted its general consent for cbi investigations in the state, which many view as an effort to shield Siddaramaiah from scrutiny. Following this, one of the petitioners, Snehamayi Krishna, filed a complaint with the Enforcement Directorate regarding the MUDA case.
