US Elections: Record Voter Turnout Expected!

G GOWTHAM
There are several ways in which the US elections of 2024 will make history. Not only will it mark the first time that an Indian-American is vying for the presidency of the United States, but it may also draw the largest turnout to date. Let's examine some of the data underlying the historic confrontation between donald trump and Kamala Harris. With 244 million individuals eligible to vote this year, there are a record number of voters to choose the next president.

159 million individuals exercised their right to vote in 2020, accounting for almost 66 percent of all voters. This was the largest attendance in almost a century! Nonetheless, both parties are aggressively encouraging people to cast ballots since this year's election is so close to the wire. This may lead to yet another historically high voter turnout on november 5.

Seven swing states—Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin—have the potential to determine the outcome of the election. Given that a small number of votes can determine the outcome, both trump and Kamala harris are concentrating heavily on these states. The poll workers who oversee the electoral process represent another significant figure. A little over 774,000 workers offered their assistance in 2020, but in the current climate of disinformation, they are in risk.

In response to Trump's previous allegations of election fraud, local public indignation turned against the volunteers. Many poll workers claim that the public has put pressure on them and threatened them. However, the last round of US elections is under way, and on november 5, the entire world will be waiting to see who becomes the next US president.
