By-elections will be held on november 13 for Kerala's wayanad lok sabha seat and 47 assembly seats of various states, while by-elections have not been announced for Ayodhya's Milkipur assembly seat. Opposition parties have started cornering the bjp on this decision. Samajwadi party chief akhilesh yadav has given the first reaction.

According to the announcement of the Commission, by-elections will be held on november 20 for Nanded parliamentary constituency of maharashtra and kedarnath assembly constituency of Uttarakhand. Chief election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar on tuesday announced the schedule of by-elections for 48 assembly constituencies and two parliamentary constituencies of 15 states. He informed that voting will be held on november 13 in wayanad lok sabha constituency and on november 20 for Nanded parliamentary seat. congress leader rahul gandhi had won from wayanad and Rae bareli seats in the lok sabha elections. gandhi had vacated the wayanad seat and retained the Rae bareli seat. rahul Gandhi's sister and congress general secretary priyanka gandhi Vadra will be the party's candidate from this seat.

Why will there be no by-election?

The election commission has not yet announced by-elections for Basirhat lok sabha seat in West bengal and Milkipur assembly seat in Uttar Pradesh. When asked about these two seats, Kumar said that by-elections are not being held in these places due to the case being in the court. Milkipur assembly seat has fallen vacant after SP leader Awadhesh prasad was elected mp from faizabad lok sabha seat.

The 48 assembly constituencies for which the Commission announced by-elections on tuesday include nine from Uttar Pradesh, seven from Rajasthan, six from West bengal, five from Assam, four from Bihar, four from Punjab, three from Karnataka, two from Kerala, two from Madhya Pradesh, two from sikkim and one each from Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, uttarakhand and Meghalaya.
