A National Conference leader involved in the talks said, "The National Conference was ready to give one cabinet berth, the post of deputy speaker and one rajya sabha seat, but the entire process stopped due to the Congress' insistence on two cabinet berths." He said, "This information has been given to the central leadership of the congress and it seems that the party leadership has decided not to join the cabinet at this time so as not to endanger the formation of the government under the influence of local leaders."
