How many days will schools remain closed during Diwali?
Dispute has started once again over holidays in government schools of Bihar. This time schools will remain closed for one day during diwali and three days during Chhath. Earlier, every year, holidays were given from Chhoti diwali to the day of Parana of Chhath. Now the teachers' union has started protesting against this. There is a demand to amend the holidays.
State convener of the Primary Teachers' Union, Raju Singh, says that only one day holiday has been given on 31st october during Diwali. Holidays have been given on 7th, 8th and 9th november during Chhath. He told that since the independence of the country till 2023, teachers used to get holidays after teaching on Dhanteras. That is, there was a holiday from Chhoti diwali to the day of Parana of Chhath. This year, for the first time, teachers have been given holidays only on the day of Diwali. The school will also remain open on the day of Nahai-Khai and Kharna during Chhath.
Raju Singh said, "The government talks about women empowerment and about 60 percent of the teachers in the education department of bihar government are women. Many of them also celebrate Chhath festival. Apart from this, many of the teachers who have been reinstated this time and those who were earlier also live in other states outside Bihar. In such a situation, how will they go out of bihar for a day's leave?
Let us tell you that this time Chhath is from 5 november to 8 November. On 5 november there is Nahai-Khaai and on 6th there is Kharna. On the 7th there is evening Arghya, while on the next day (8 November) friday there will be morning Arghya. Apart from the day of first Arghya and second Arghya, the bihar government has given leave on 9 november (Saturday). However, schools will remain closed for four days from 7 november to 10 November. 10 november is Sunday.
