Reportedly the central government has decided to give additional pension to central government pensioners who have completed 80 years of age. The additional amount will be provided to these pensioners as a compassionate allowance. The Department of Pension and Pensioners’ Welfare (DoPPW) issued an official memorandum for the same. Under this new scheme, central government retired employees who have turned or will turn 80 will receive additional pension. Meanwhile the beneficiaries include those who are employed by the central government, but are not members of the army. According to the new rules, the pensioner will start getting this additional pension from the first day of the month when they turn 80. For example, if a pensioner was born on august 20, 1942, then they will receive the additional amount from august 20, 2022. Moreover once they turn 80, the pensioner will get an additional amount with an increase of 20% in the basic pension. This benefit will increase according to age; it will be 30% at the age of 85 to 90, 40% at 90 to 95, and 100% of the basic pension will be given additionally on completion of 100 years of age.
