As per report from Delhi, air India’s menu includes options such as Hindu Meal, Jain Meal, Kosher Meal, Vegan Meal, and more. The menu is designed to cater to the preferences and religious practices of people from different communities. However, the airline has data-faced criticism for linking meal names with religions. In June, congress MP Manickam Tagore questioned the use of religious labels for meals rather than dietary preferences, urging the Ministry of Civil Aviation to address the issue with air India.

Meanwhile air India’s ‘Special Meal’, which replaces the formerly named ‘Muslim Meal’, is prepared according to Muslim dietary requirements in a Halal-certified kitchen. Pre-booked meals formerly labelled with the MOML (Muslim Meal) sticker will now be referred to as Special Meal (SPML), denoting a Halal-certified option.

Moreover air india offers various meal choices, including Diabetic Meal, Gluten-Free Meal, fruit Platter, Non-Vegetarian Meal, Asian Vegetarian Meal, Vegan Meal, Jain Meal, Kosher Meal, Hindu Meal, and Baby Meal. While air india does offer non-vegetarian options, it does not serve beef or pork, nor does it use these meats or their by-products in any dish. Perhaps Pre-booked meals formerly labelled with the MOML (Muslim Meal) sticker will now be referred to as Special Meal (SPML), denoting a Halal-certified option.
