Telangana Announced 100% Exemption On Road & Registration Taxes

For the first two years, till december 31, 2026, the telangana government has stated that electric vehicles (EVs) registered and purchased in the state will be completely exempt from road tax and registration costs. According to Transport minister Ponnam Prabhakar, the new EV policy will take effect on Monday, november 18, by government Order (GO) 41. He stated that the goal is to eliminate pollution in Hyderabad.
 

Electric two-wheelers, four-wheelers, commercial passenger vehicles like taxis, private vehicles, electric three-seater autorickshaws, electric light goods carriers, including three-wheeled goods vehicles, electric tractors, and electric buses will all be completely exempt from road tax and registration fees, the government has decided, according to the GO. Electric vehicles include taxis, private cars, electric three-seater auto-rickshaws, and electric light goods carriers including three-wheeled goods vehicles.
According to the statement, the exemption will only apply to electric buses that are owned and operated by the telangana State Road Transport Corporation for the duration of their existence, as well as any buses that are purchased and registered in telangana for the first two years up until december 31, 2026, and are used exclusively for the transportation of their own employees and are not used for commercial purposes.
