Will Israel-Hezbollah agree on ceasefire?

Israel has been attacking Iran-backed group Hezbollah for the past several days. During this time, Israel has broken the back of Hezbollah and killed many of its prominent people, including the group's chief Hassan Nasrallah and his successor. Meanwhile, according to a New York Times report, iran has asked Hezbollah to accept the terms of Israel's ceasefire proposal and withdraw its forces north of the Litani River. On this, a top Lebanese official told Reuters on monday (November 18) that this is the most serious effort so far to end the fighting.

Meanwhile, israel said on monday (November 18) that there has been progress in talks about the lebanon ceasefire. On the matter, Israeli Foreign minister Gideon Saar said that his war against Hezbollah is not over yet. He said the main challenge would be to secure any ceasefire agreement, although there had been "some progress" in the talks. Addressing a press conference in Jerusalem, Saar said israel was working with the US on a ceasefire. He said israel wanted Hezbollah to withdraw north of the Litani River - about 20 miles (30 km) from the data-border.

Hezbollah threatens

Hezbollah, fearful of the Israeli invasion, said political contacts were ongoing with its supporters in Tehran, Washington and Moscow. However, he also said it had enough weapons to fight the war for a long time and could continue firing rockets at Israel.
