The chennai Meteorological Department has said that light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning is likely at many places in coastal tamil Nadu, a few places in interior tamil Nadu, puducherry, and Karaikal areas today. The chennai Meteorological Department has said that heavy rain is likely to occur at one or two places in Chengalpattu, Villupuram, Cuddalore, Mayiladuthurai, Nagapattinam, thiruvarur, thanjavur, Pudukkottai, ariyalur districts, puducherry and Karaikal regions. Similarly, light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning is likely to occur at many places in tamil Nadu, puducherry, and Karaikal regions tomorrow (Nov. 29).
A deep depression is likely to move in a north-northwesterly direction along the Sri Lankan coast in the next 12 hours. After that, it is likely to move further north-northwestwards and cross the coast of North tamil Nadu-Puduwai coast between Karaikal and mahabalipuram on the morning of the 30th as a deep depression. At that time, the wind speed is likely to reach 50 to 60 kmph with gusts reaching 70 kmph at times. The Meteorological Department has also said that it is likely to strengthen into a cyclonic storm while prevailing over the southwest Bay of bengal from the evening of the 28th to the morning of the 29th, with wind speeds reaching 65 to 75 kmph with gusts reaching 85 kmph at times.
