Reportedly bihar has taken the lead in administering the highest number of vaccine doses to infants and pregnant women through the U-Win portal, followed by Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Odisha, government data shows.

Perhaps the portal, which is modelled on the lines of the COVID-19 vaccine management system, Co-WIN, aims to streamline the vaccination process by digitising the records. The key features include “anytime access" and “anywhere" vaccination services, allowing parents or pregnant women to receive their shots without the need to carry paper records or vaccination cards. This is especially beneficial for infants, who are at risk of missing crucial vaccination doses if their paper records are lost. The portal will also generate an Ayushman Bharat health Account (ABHA) and a Child ABHA, ensuring that all medical health records are stored online or on a wallet PLATFORM' target='_blank' title='digital-Latest Updates, Photos, Videos are a click away, CLICK NOW">digital platform, eliminating the need for physical medical files for future reference. Additionally, the portal will provide QR-based “e-vaccination certificates".

Moreover the portal maintains the records till the age of 16 years against 12 vaccine-preventable diseases including measles, rubella, diphtheria, pneumococcal pneumonia, meningitis and pneumonia caused by Hemophilus Influenza Type B, pertussis, polio, rotavirus diarrhoea and hepatitis B. The portal that will maintain an electronic registry for routine immunisations also has a mobile application for both citizens and vaccinators for ease of use. This mobile application is available for download from google Playstore. The central government has been running an extensive social media communication campaign to promote awareness about U-WIN.
