A story concerning Sharjeel Imam, who previously advocated for Assam's separation from India, has surdata-faced during the CAA-NRC demonstrations. social media has shown that Farha Nishat, Sharjeel's sister, passed the judicial service test, even though Sharjeel has been incarcerated for the last four years.
The brother of Sharjeel Imam, Muzammil Imam, posted this information on social media. In an article on Facebook, Muzammil stated:
According to the post, Farha Nishat's name was listed under the Backward Class category with roll number 124570 when we looked up the test results on the BPSC website. We were unable to formally confirm if Farha Nishat is, in fact, the sister of Sharjeel Imam. However, this assertion is being made in media stories as well as social media conversations.
It is important to remember that Sharjeel Imam was charged with sedition, inciting Muslims, and causing rioting during the anti-CAA-NRC demonstrations in 2019–20. Since his arrest on january 28, 2020, he has been going through a trial. He is still in jail on other accusations even though he was just found not guilty in the Jamia violence case.
